Despite its name, Malý Ľadový štít is among the highest peaks in the Tatras. It is a significant summit on the main ridge of the High Tatras, separated from its higher “brother,” Ľadový štít, by Ľadová štrbina. It towers above Malá Studená dolina and Dolinka pod Sedielkom. Thanks to its elevation, it offers uninterrupted views of many High Tatra peaks, such as Široká veža, Ľadový štít, Baranie rohy, Pyšný štít, Lomnický štít, and others, as well as the ridges of the Belianske and Low Tatras.

The hike begins in Starý Smokovec, or more precisely at Hrebienok. We follow the Tatranská magistrála to Zamkovského hut, then continue through Malá Studená dolina to Téryho hut and further past Modré pliesko (the highest-altitude lake in the Tatras) to Sedielko. Here we leave the marked trail and continue to the summit of Malý Ľadový štít. The return route follows the same path.

This is a challenging mountain hike, intended for fit hikers in good physical condition and with mountain experience, even though only a small portion of the route is off marked trails.
